WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 (UPI) -- The "adult services" section of Craigslist will remain closed, a company official told members of a congressional subcommittee in Washington.
Testifying before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism and Homeland Security, William Clinton Powell said he is unaware of any plans to unblock its "adult services" section, The San Francisco Chronicle reported Thursday. The hearing focused on domestic sex trafficking involving minors.
Craigslist blocked access to that section by its subscribers in the United States on Sept. 3, after receiving a letter signed by the attorneys general from 17 states alleging it promoted prostitution, child trafficking and violence against women.
