Snowstorms on the way

Warmer temperatures will bring snowstorms to eastern parts of the country but wind chill will remain frigid

Just as the nation is shivering its way out of the coldest night of the year, a storm front is set to move in from the northeast into the Øresund Strait, promising to bring a fair amount of snowfall with it.

National weather service DMI predicts up to 10cm of snow for eastern Zealand tonight. And while temperatures are expected to climb above freezing point for the first time in weeks, a fierce wind will keep the wind chill factor down to around -20C in the Copenhagen area.

City temperatures fell to around -15C last night – the coldest reading this winter – with the lowest temperature recorded at -18C in mid Jutland. Wind chill has, remained consistently frigid over the past couple weeks, ranging from between -20C and -30C.

After a brief respite over the next two days, temperatures are again predicted to begin falling by Thursday evening, dropping to below -15C again by Sunday.
