A 16-year-old girl is fighting for her life after being shot while waiting at a takeaway restaurant in east London last night. The teenager was shot in the neck at Hoxton Chicken and Pizza in Hoxton Street, Hackney, at about 7pm.
The shot was fired from outside the takeaway shop, police said.
"She remains in a critical condition. No arrests have been made," a Metropolitan police spokesman said today.
It was too early to tell if the incident was gang-related, police said.
The Met's Operation Trident, which deals with serious crime in London, is investigating the shooting.
Meantime, a 20-year-old man died after being stabbed outside a London pub. The incident occurred outside the Thornhill Arms pub in Wynford Road in Islington, north London, about 8pm last night, police said.
He was taken to the Royal London Hospital in a critical condition with a stab wound to his torso, but died shortly after arrival.
A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody in a north London police station.
A postmortem is being arranged and officers from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are continuing to investigate the incident.
