Romania doesn´t have enough rich to support the poor, FinMin says

Romania doesn't have enough rich people to support the poor, the Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu said today (Tues) at a Central and South-East European Financial Forum.

Vladescu said: "We do not have that many rich people from whom to give to the poor. Anyone having attempted to redistribute poverty has been faced with the reality that Romania is not rich enough to provide its population with what a European country should afford".

He added that tax increases will not suffice in overcome the ongoing crisis, which is exceeding all that the world authorities could have imagined.

"The only resource Romania possesses is human resource, those with initiative, whom we want to support while providing social security benefits, sometimes minimal, to the others," said Vladescu.

Tomorrow (Weds) the Romanian Government will propose to Parliament a series of measures to cut public expenses, through salary and pensions cuts. Link
