Kenyan PM resurfaces, says feeling great

KISUMU Kenya (Reuters) - Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga made his first public appearance on Friday since leaving hospital on July 4 after an operation to relieve pressure on his brain.
Odinga arrived at the African Athletics Championships in the capital Nairobi just before Kenyan runners won gold, silver and bronze in the men's 800 metres. He then flew to the Western town of Kisumu aboard an air force plane.
"I'm feeling great," he told Reuters after landing, adding that he was ready for the August 4 referendum on a long-awaited new constitution.
"Yes, in fact we wanted it yesterday," he said.
Odinga's illness forced him to break off campaigning for the "Yes" camp and coalition partner President Mwai Kibaki has been leading the campaign since then. The prime minister had been resting somewhere in Kenya earlier this week.
Odinga, 65, had criss-crossed the country selling the document to Kenyans and analysts say his chances in 2012 presidential elections could be greatly improved if the constitution passes.
