Russian Mosmetrostroy wins contract to build Israeli railroad

Russian railroad construction company Mosmetrostroy together with an Israeli partner has won a tender to construct a high-speed railroad between Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem, Israeli business daily Calcalist said on Friday.
Mosmetrostroy and the Israeli engineering company Minrav will lay one of the four railroad sections over 40 months.
The work will include constructing two parallel tunnels through a mountain, three and a half kilometers long.
The contract is estimated at 647 million Shekels (around 170 million dollars.)
The high-speed railroad will allow commuters to cover the 70 km journey in just 26 minutes.
The trial run of the new track is planned for 2017.
