Carter to remain in hospital as precaution

WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 (UPI) -- Former President Jimmy Carter was resting comfortably in a Cleveland hospital where doctors recommended Wednesday he remain for another day of observation.

"Former President Jimmy Carter is feeling normal this morning," MetroHealth Medical Center said in a statement. "His doctors at MetroHealth Medical Center recommended additional observation during the day. He looks forward to resuming his schedule as soon as possible".

Carter, who will be 86 Friday, was admitted to MetroHealth Tuesday after developing an upset stomach during a flight to Cleveland for an autograph session to promote his new book, "White House Diary," an edited collection of journals he kept during his term.
