Corruption probes not related to mayor's dismissal - investigators

Corruption probes against several officials in the Moscow city government are not related to the dismissal of Yury Luzhkov as mayor, a spokesman for investigators said on Wednesday.
Russian media earlier reported that corruption probes had been launched against officials appointed by Luzhkov, who was sacked by the president on Tuesday.
"Probes continue into complaints from citizens, including members of political parties and movements, about alleged corruption-related crimes committed by some officials in the Moscow city government," Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin said.
"However, they were initiated long before the dismissal of Yury Luzhkov," he added.
