Luzhkov set up anti-corruption commission day before exit

Moscow's ex-mayor Yury Luzhkov set up a commission to monitor the capital's bureaucrats the day before he was sacked by the president, a source in the city administration told RIA Novosti.
The commission will run on a permanent basis and will seek to root out corruption.
President Dmitry Medvedev fired long-serving Moscow mayor Luzhkov on Tuesday, saying he had lost his trust. The decision came after state TV had accused Luzhkov of negligence, callousness and corruption.
Commentators say Medvedev's sacking of Luzhkov, one of the most powerful politicians in Russia, may boost his authority ahead of the 2012 presidential elections.
