Moscow ex-mayor Luzhkov 'lost all sense of reality' - upper house chair

Moscow's ex-mayor Yury Luzhkov has lost all sense of reality if he wants to appeal the Russian president's decision to dismiss him, Russia's Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov said on Wednesday.
State Duma Deputy Iosif Kobzon, who is also a singer and close friend of Luzhkov, said earlier on Wednesday that the ex-mayor wanted to appeal President Dmitry Medvedev's decision to sack him in the Supreme Court.
Medvedev fired Luzhkov, who had been mayor for more than 18 years, on Tuesday, citing "loss of confidence." The decision came after an unprecedented smear campaign by state-backed TV, accusing Luzhkov of negligence, callousness and corruption.
The speaker said Medvedev was not under any legal obligation to justify his loss of confidence in Luzhkov.
