Moscow ex-Mayor Luzhkov yet to challenge his dismissal

Russia's Supreme Court has not received any complaints from Moscow ex-mayor Yury Luzhkov over his dismissal, despite media reports that he plans to appeal the decision, a court spokesperson said on Wednesday.
State Duma Deputy Iosif Kobzon, who is also a singer and close friend of Luzhkov, said on Wednesday that the ex-mayor wanted to appeal President Dmitry Medvedev's decision to fire him.
"Luzhkov told me yesterday he was going to appeal the president's decision in court," Kobzon said.
The mayor can only challenge the president's decision in the Supreme Court.
Medvedev fired long-serving Moscow mayor Luzhkov on Tuesday, saying he had lost confidence in him. The decision came after an unprecedented smear campaign by state-backed TV, accusing Luzhkov of negligence, callousness and corruption.
