Witness could not identify 17 murder accused


The prime witness in the killing of a Pakistani national in Sharjah has failed to identify any of the 17 accused.
Mustaq Ahmad who was summoned before the Sharjah Appeals Court this morning for a hearing, however said the murder was committed by an unidentified group of “Hindu” men who were carrying swords and knives.
Misri Nazir Khan was killed  and three others seriously injured in a fight between two gangs of bootleggers in the Saaja industrial area in January last year.
Police soon arrested the 17 Punjabi men, who were awarded death sentence by the Sharjah Court of First Instance.
Bindu Suresh Chettur, a lawyer with Mohammed Salman Advocates and Legal Consultants, who is representing the accused Indian men said, “Mustaq Ahmad, the  prime witness in the case and one of the injured has failed to identify any of the accused. He however said that the murder was committed by a group of 30 odd men armed with swords and knives”.
