A doctor has been shot at a hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, police said.
The gunman was subdued and disarmed by police after reportedly barricading himself inside a patient room at Johns Hopkins hospital, police said.
Police have evacuated the sprawling hospital campus and shut the streets surrounding it. The victim was reported to be in critical condition.
The hospital is one of the most prominent in the US and has more than 900 beds.
