MAKKAH: Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal opened the 10th seminar on new ideas to make Haj and Umrah more comfortable and safe at the King Abdul Aziz Historical Hall in Makkah on Saturday.
“The ideal methodology followed in this seminar by the institute aims at sustained development of the holy places and continuous upgrading of services to Haj and Umrah pilgrims with a futuristic vision. (The upgrading of pilgrim services) enjoys the top priority of the Kingdom’s rulers over all other ambitious developmental projects,” Prince Khaled said in his address. Describing the responsibility of caring for the Two Holy Mosques, holy sites and service to pilgrims as an honor and special blessing from Almighty Allah, the prince said, “The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Institute for Haj Research was established three decades ago. This is the only institute in the world specializing on Haj studies,” he said.
Forty academics and researchers from Saudi universities and government departments will present 25 work papers and studies. President of the Umm Al-Qura University Waleed Abul Faraj said in his speech that the university and the institute would work side by side to make Makkah the most beautiful city in the world.
The seminar is scheduled to discuss a number of important topics in six sessions.
Four papers will be read in the first session set apart for the application of advanced technologies and international experience in managing Haj crowds.
They will also discuss ways to solve the accommodation problem in Mina by utilizing all available land. Another paper will be on fatwas during Haj and Umrah.
