Icelandic Ghost Movie in the Pipelines

The Icelandic film production company Pegasus bought the movie rights to Gardurinn (“The Garden”), a teenage ghost story by Gerdur Kristný, this week. The film will be directed by Reynir Lyngdal and adaptation work will begin shortly

The book features teenage girl Eyja, who has just moved to a new neighborhood. She feels uncomfortable in her new house because it’s located next to a cemetery. Even more so because she senses that there is something evil about the antique leather chair her parents bought.

Gardurinn was published in 2008 and has been nominated for the 2010 West Nordic Council Children’s and Teenagers’ Book Award. The publishing rights to the book have been sold to Norway and Germany.
