Titanic star Leonardo DiCaprio wants to play role of Joseph Stalin

Hollywood star Leonardo Di Caprio has revealed that he wants to play the role of the Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin

The 35-year-old Titanic star told Russian daily Komsomolskaya Pravda: "I'd love to play Stalin very much. However, it is all about a script and there is no such script at the moment".
DiCaprio's Russian grandmother survived the Soviet era with its political purges, mass killings and all powerful secret police.
"My grandmother was telling me about the Second World War, the Gulags and other Russian tragedies.
"I really do not know whether I'll ever be able to play the role and there is no screenplay for that yet," he added.
DiCaprio's talent was spotted early by Hollywood legend Robert De Niro who chose him for This Boy’s Life.
After that he won an Oscar nomination for his part in What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
This led to his 1997 role alongside Kate Winslet in James Cameron's Titanic, which catapulted him to superstardom.
Since then DiCaprio has collaborated in a number of film with Martin Scorsese in The Departed, Gangs of New York and The Aviator. His latest Scorsese movie, Shutter Island, is out in cinemas in the UK.
