Bulgaria Parliament Votes Thursday on New EU Funding Minister

The Bulgarian Parliament will vote on Thursday on the appointment of a new position, that of Minister for EU Funds, and for other structural changes in the government.
Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov has formally announced the plans on Monday, at a joint press conference with Kristalina Georgieva, the European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid.
The proposal to appoint an EU funding minister was first floated publicly over one week ago. The Prime Minister has nominated Tomislav Donchev, currently the Mayor of the central Bulgarian town of Gabrovo, to the position.
"Donchev is an exceptional expert and manager and one of the few people in the country that has worked on all EU operational programs," the Regional Development Minister, Rosen Plevneliev has stated in support of the nominee.
The official post will be that of a Minister without Portfolio. The European Union has already given its approval to the creation of this new governmental position.
