A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital today (March 9) after suffering lacerations to his chest in a chainsaw accident.
The man was in a tree in Great Abington when he slipped and cut himself with a chainsaw at around 11am.
Paramedics from the emergency medical response charity Magpas were flown to the scene, where consultant emergency medicine doctor Vijay Sanker helped to stem the bleeding.
He was assisted by critical care paramedic Dan Cody and East of England Air Ambulance pilot Neil Waller, as well as paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service Trust.
The Magpas team then escorted the patient in a land ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where his condition is “stable”.
Deborah Florence, Magpas’ spokesman, said “It is through our close working partnership with Cambridgeshire’s police air operations unit and the East of England Ambulance Service Trust that we are able to deliver such a rapid and coordinated response to anywhere in the East of England”.
