Police station evacuated amid bomb threat

A police station in central Stockholm was evacuated on Wednesday afternoon after a person left a plastic explosive in reception.

The unidentified person walked into the police station and left a plastic explosive on the reception desk where it was discovered at 1.05pm. The station has now been evacuated and several streets in the vicinity have been sealed off.

The plastic explosive has been classified as "sweaty" which means that it is unstable and could explode if it is moved, according to Björn Engström at Stockholm police.

"We have secured the area as a precaution until the bomb technicians have assessed it," he said.

No threats or warnings were received prior to the discovery of the explosive.
