Jimma, April 12 (WIC) –The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) said a blood bank being built with over 5.4 million birr in Jimma zone is nearing completion.
Zone Branch Office Head with ERCS Mustefa Mohammed told WIC the bank being constructed with the stated sum obtained from donors would help to store blood for later use. He said the construction of the bank would enable to offer quality medical service to patients as well as it helps to reduce maternal and child mortality in the zone.
The branch office is supplying medicine through its pharmacies in Jimma and Agaro towns with a reasonable price as well as providing service by 6 ambulances and offering care and support to 500 orphaned and vulnerable children.
According to Mustefa, the office has 115, 000 members.
