THE father of murdered Limerick businessman, Roy Collins, has said his family will never have closure until all of those responsible for his son's brutal killing are brought to justice.
Steve Collins made his comments yesterday outside the amusement arcade at Roxboro Shopping Centre, Limerick, where his son was shot dead on April 9 last year.
The mayor of Limerick, Councillor Kevin Kiely, unveiled a plaque in memory of the father of two on the main wall of the shopping centre where Mr Collins still operates the Steering Wheel Bar.
Large crowds, including former government minister Willie O'Dea, attended the ceremony to support the Collins family who have campaigned for new laws to tackle gangland criminals.
A special Mass marking the first anniversary of Roy Collins's death took place earlier at St John's Cathedral. Speaking yesterday, his father said: "The first anniversary is always going to be the hardest but there will never be closure for us until the whole lot of them that were involved (in the murder) are brought to justice".
Former mayor of Limerick, Councillor John Gilligan, said it was important to track down the people who order gangland hits. Mr O'Dea said he was present at yesterday's event to salute the Collins family for the courage and fortitude they have displayed in the face of the most "appaling intimidation".
