PAMELA NEWENHAM
The funeral of Toyosi Shittabey (15), who was stabbed to death in Tyrrelstown in west Dublin last week, was held this afternoon.
Some 200 mourners attended the burial at Newcastle Cemetery in Co Dublin.
His coffin was draped in a Shelbourne FC flag. The talented teen - who came from Nigeria to Ireland with his family 11 years ago - was on the club’s books. He also played for Insaka-Ireland Football, the football club for African children in Ireland.
Toyosi, a third-year student at Hartstown Community School, was with four of his friends on their way back from the National Aquatic Centre on Good Friday night at about 8.10pm when they were attacked.
A march in Toyosi's memory is to be held in Dublin city centre this weekend.
On Sunday, about 300 local people took part in a procession from Tyrellstown Plaza to Mount Eustace, where the stabbing occurred. Tributes were paid to Toyosi and prayers were said at the scene during a rally at the spot where he was killed. The Nigerian ambassador, Dr Kemafo Nonyerem Chikwe, attended the rally.
Paul Barry (38) from Pearse Street in Dublin, has been charged with  Mr Shittabey's manslaughter.
