Nigeria picks new oil regulatory head, NNPC execs

ABUJA (Reuters) - Nigeria's petroleum ministry has announced a new director for the Department of Petroleum Resources and unveiled a management reshuffle at its state-run energy firm NNPC.
Andrew Obaji was promoted from deputy director to lead the regulatory agency, which supervises one of Africa's biggest oil producers.
He replaces Billy Agha, who was appointed group executive director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corp.'s (NNPC) Engineering and Technology division.
NNPC said late Monday the changes were aimed at "repositioning the NNPC and DPR for greater efficiency in line with the aspiration of acting president Goodluck Jonathan".
Jonathan, who assumed executive powers from ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua, asserted his new authority by installing a new cabinet earlier this month that included Diezani Alison-Madueke as oil minister. He also picked Shehu Ladan to head NNPC.
