Post mortem to be made on Hokitika bodies

A post mortem examination will be completed on Thursday on the bodies of the two men shot dead in Hokitika.

The bodies of 86-year-old Frank Schist and another man were removed from the Fitzherbert Street property and transported to Christchurch on Wednesday night.

A 41-year-old has appeared in the Greymouth District Court following the shootings charged with one of the killings and been remanded until next week.

Police say a second charge will follow once the second victim has been formally identified.

Police are still trying to find out what led to the double homicide and will be back at the West Coast house on Thursday to wrap-up the scene investigation.
