Ethiopia's ruling party on course for landslide

(Reuters) - Ethiopia's ruling party and allies won by far the most votes in all nine regions and cities that have given provisional results from Sunday's national election so far, the electoral board said on Monday.

"Definitely, at this point the EPRDF has won, definitely," said Merga Bekana, chairman of the Ethiopian National Electoral Board (NEBE).
The EPRDF crushed an opposition coalition in the largest region, Oromia, which had been a hotbed of opposition support. The ruling party was also well ahead of the coalition in the capital Addis Ababa, reversing the result of a 2005 poll. Link
