A Kansas City man who punched a 59-year-old woman in the face was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison.
Pedro Guzman, 21, had previously pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in the incident on May 23, 2008, said Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd.
Guzman, who is not related to the victim, had driven another person to the victim’s home. Guzman became angry with the woman, Zahnd said, and told her granddaughter, “Get your grandma … or I will put her on the floor.” When the victim asked Guzman to leave, he punched her in the face.
Guzman hit the woman with such force on one side of her face that her jaw broke on the other side, Zahnd said.
Zahnd said phone calls from the Platte County jail recorded Guzman saying about the woman, “People got to learn not to mouth off to people they don’t know”. Link
