3 policemen disarmed over fatal shooting

Manila Police District (MPD) Chief Supt. Rodolfo Magtibay ordered Friday the temporary disarming of three policemen involved in the shooting of a murder suspect who was attempting to escape inside a police mobile car.
Magtibay said this procedure is to prevent any speculations of whitewash on the case, adding that they are open to any investigation by concerned sectors including the Commission on Human Rights.
Based on their sworn statement, PO3 Jonathan Ruiz, PO3 Gerry Amores and PO2 Erwin Castro of the MPD Homicide Section were on their way back to the main headquarters along UN Avenue in Ermita on Wednesday evening together with Ronald Sevilla, the suspect in the killing of Edralin Amon, a 49-year-old seafarer who was allegedly shot dead by Sevilla in front of his house in Singalong last June 17, when he allegedly grabbed one of the service pistol of one of the policemen. This prompted the cops to shoot him. Sevilla suffered three fatal gunshot wounds in his skull.
