Anand’s hunt for RS seat ends in Rajasthan

NEW DELHI: Commerce minister Anand Sharma will come to the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan, with the announcement on Saturday ending the search for a state to return him to the Upper House. I&B minister Ambika Soni has already been renominated from Punjab.

BJP has nominated Chandan Mitra and Anil Dave from MP, Tarun Vijay from Uttarakhand and V P Singh from Rajasthan.

Sharma had to be adjusted outside his home state of Himachal Pradesh where Congress does not have the numbers to return him to the RS. He ceased to be a member of the Upper House in April.

But the RS nomination from Madhya Pradesh have brought a big surprise as PCC chief Suresh Pachauri has failed to earn another term in the Upper House.
