The bomb explosion outside the coalition Bhumjaithai Party headquarters on Tuesday will be one of the determinants in deciding whether to continue enforcing the emergency decree, National Security Council secretary-general Thawil Pliensee said on Wednesday.
"The evidence from the police report clearly indicates that the bomb blast was politically motivated.
"The bombing will be taken into account when considering whether to continue the imposition of the emergency decree, but it will not be the deciding factor since we'll have to look at the big picture," Mr Thawil said.
He said it was not likely the government arranged the bombing so it could extend the emergency decree - as some people claimed - as security personnel were already weary of enforcing the emergency law.
The Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation meeting on Monday ordered various agencies to beef up security, as there were reports of political movements in different parts of the country.
The government invoked the emergency decree on April 7 to deal with the anti-government protests of the red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, which were dispersed by the military on May 19.
