The three daughters of David Bird, shot dead by his twin brother Derrick in yesterday’s Cumbrian spree killing, denied tonight that he had been the victim of any family feud.
David Bird, a 52-year-old mechanic, and Kevin Commons, 60, the family solicitor, were the first of Bird’s 12 victims, both killed at their remote rural homes before he went on the rampage down the Cumbrian coast.
That had led to speculation that Derrick Bird had killed his brother in a row over their mother’s will and that Mr Commons had been fatally caught up in a family dispute.
