Fire in building of air defense firm in Moscow extinguished

A blaze that swept through the building of Russia's air defense firm Almaz-Antei in northern Moscow earlier on Wednesday has been put out, an Emergencies Ministry spokesman said.
"The fire in the attic of the seven-storey manufacturing building at Leningradsky Prospekt, 80 has been extinguished. There were no casualties," he said.
The fire covered an area of around 1,800 square meters.
The spokesman said 45 fire crews including four emergency helicopters were used to put out the blaze.
Russia's state fire watchdog is now investigating the cause of the incident.
Oleg Mitvol, the prefect of Moscow's northern district, said the fire may have been caused by a violation of construction work regulations.
"[Construction] work involving open flames was being carried out on the seventh floor," he said.
Almaz-Antei is one of Russia's largest air defense manufacturers, specializing in production of small, medium and long-range air defense systems, including the S-300 Favorit and S-400 Triumf systems.
