Now time has come not to step in any eye clinic for a simple test. Thanks to Indian professors ofMassachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at Cambridge.
Indian origin scientists, Associate Professor Ramesh Raskar and postdoctoral research associate Ankit Mohan at MIT along with visiting Professor Manuel Oliveira, student Vitor Pamplona have invented a simple tool Near-Eye Tool for Refractive Assessment (NETRA) for mobiles by which cell phone users can able to test eyes within 2 minutes.
The testing process by the help of NETRA is simple. Simply, mobile users need to install the requisite software. The patient needs to look into the lens of NETRA and presses the phone's arrow keys on the screen. Then the user needs to adjust and bring both red and green lines aligned into one.
The test process will be repeated 8 times from different angles. The eye testing tool NETRA on mobile does not require any experts and the users can get the tool at the cost of $ 1-2 only which may be reduced further in future.
