JMM willing, but Congress undecided on forming government

Some Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislators are actively trying to form a United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in Jharkhand, but the Congress is undecided about forming government with support of the JMM keeping in mind the party's constantly changing stand.

"A government should be formed in the state," former chief minister and JMM chief Shibu Soren told reporters in Ranchi on Saturday.

At least four JMM legislators are reported to be playing an active role to form a UPA government. They are - Simon Marandi, Teklal Mahto, Nalin Soren and Lobin Hembrom. These leaders are in touch with the Congress leaders.

"We have launched a signature campaign to form a UPA government in the state. Nine JMM legislators have already signed it and the rest will sign soon. We have the blessings of Shibu Soren," Simon Marandi told reporters.

The Congress is not against formation of a government in the state but is finding it difficult to depend on the JMM. According to sources, when some JMM leaders approached Congress leaders, they were categorically told to take a clear stand.
