Polish, American service members killed in Afghanistan


Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- Two NATO-led service members -- one Polish, one American -- died in bombings in Afghanistan on Saturday, authorities from Poland and the International Security Assistance Force said.
The Pole was killed in an attack on his convoy in the Ghazni province, the Polish Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The military said nine soldiers were on patrol in an armored vehicle. Eight others were injured, with five hospitalized in stable conditions.
Seventeen Polish troops have died over the years in the Afghan conflict, according to a CNN count.
The American died in northern Afghanistan, ISAF said. The precise location of the incident was not immediately disclosed.
More than 1,000 U.S. troops have been killed in the war.
