Switzerland drop captain Frei for Honduras clash

BLOEMFONTEIN, South Africa — Switzerland made two changes Friday as they go in search of the goals they need to ensure qualification for the World Cup knockout stages.
Captain Alexander Frei, who played just 42 minutes in Switzerland's 1-0 defeat by Chile, was left out of the starting line-up with coach Ottmar Hitzfeld pairing Eren Derdiyok with Blaise Nkufo up front.
Tranquillo Barnetta came in for suspended West Ham midfielder Volan Behrami.
Honduras, languishing at the bottom of Group H with no points, made six changes. Two of the three Palacios brothers in the squad, Jerry and Wilson, were set to start.
A Swiss win by two clear goals would seal a place in the last 16 of the World Cup but they could also progress with a narrow win or a draw, depending on the result of Friday's other game between Spain and Chile in Pretoria.
Chile have a maximum six points, with Spain and Switzerland both on three points. Honduras, appearing in only their second World Cup finals, are yet to get off the mark but are still in with a mathematical chance of reaching the knockout stages.
