Uganda Government News: High Court exposes UYD's grand plan in DP

The High Court ruling on Monday this week by Justice Lawrence Gidudu in which the President of the Democratic Party, Norbert Mao’s legal team trounced another group of party diehard conservatives led by Prof. Joseph Mukiibi, who filed this case to challenge Mao’s presidency had more issues than what meets the naked eye.

Analysed clearly from the lawyers on both sides and DP diehards in the public gallery it was an evident divide between the youth and the elderly. The Mao team’s astute lawyers led by UYD’s Samuel Muyizzi Mulindwa were more organized and much younger than the retiring lawyers on the DP splinter group who were led by lawyers: JB Balikudembe, Edward Muguluma, Damiano Lubega and JB Kakooza.

In the public gallery on Mao’s side apart from Mzee Ssebaana Kizito, enthusiastic UYD/DP leaders like Kenneth Kakande, Mukasa Mbidde, Sula Kidandala and Walakira Nyanzi among others had big numbers of youth and middle aged members dominating their side whereas apart from Sam Lubega and MP Lulume Bayiga , 80% of those on Prof. Joseph Mukiibi’s side were mostly in their 60s and above.
