28 killed in attack at military checkpoint in Pakistan

(CNN) -- Three soldiers and 25 militants were killed during clashes at a security checkpoint in South Waziristan, Pakistani intelligence officials said Sunday.
The clashes occurred when dozens of militants attacked a checkpoint in the village of Kaniguram Saturday, according to two intelligence officials, who asked not to be named because they were not authorized to speak with the media.
Six soldiers were also injured.
South Waziristan, believed to be a Taliban stronghold, is one of seven districts bordering the Afghanistan tribal region.
