China to Further Open Entertainment Market to US

China has agreed to further open its entertainment market to the US before March 19, 2011 based on the World Trade Organization's arbitration, Beijing Morning Post Thursday reports.

China will keep the import rights of two state-run film companies to ensure the government's examination rights towards imported films to some extent so that it doesn't have to increase the quota of importing 20 foreign films every year, according to the WTO ruling.

Meantime, China has to allow American companies and other international companies to export film, music, online games and books and permit Sino-US joint ventures to distribute music products via the internet.
