Democrats for Strong Bulgaria to Stand Alone in Next Elections

Former Bulgarian PM Ivan Kostov's rightist Democrats for Strong Bulgaria party will not be a part of the Blue Coalition in Bulgaria's 2011 presidential and local elections, announced Kostov Monday, as reported by BGNES.
The Blue Coalition is a union between Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) and fellow rightists Union of Democratic Forces (UDF), headed by Martin Dimitrov.
DSB was founded by Kostov after internal fighting caused him to leave the UMF in 2004. Some years after the two rightist parties have been held at bay by different interpersonal conflicts largely centered around Kostov's figure.
Ivan Kostov was UMF's PM of Bulgaria after 1997 when the Union swept to power after a local economic crisis forced the cabinet headed by former Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Zhan Videnov to step down. Kostov's UDF lost the 2001 general elections to former Bulgarian king Simeon Saxe-Coburg's newly founded Movement for Simeon II.
The Blue Coalition between UDF and DSB managed to get 14 MPs out of 240 in Bulgaria's last general elections 2009.
At the last presidential elections in the country the two parties' joint candidate Nedelcho Beronov failed to get to the second round, ranking third behind current Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov and nationalist leader Volen Siderov.
