Future Connector: Leonardo DiCaprio

He's one of the world's most famous faces and Leonardo DiCaprio has been enjoying his time in the limelight for nearly the past two decades.

Born in 1974 in Los Angeles, California, DiCaprio had what would be described as a 'normal' upbringing and didn't get his start in show business until he was 16.
DiCaprio had roles in a number of commercials and got his big break in television, starring in a short-lived show based on the movie "Parenthood".
The American's first film role was in the low-budget horror film "Critters 3" and in 1991, DiCaprio had a recurring role on the popular American sitcom "Growing Pains".
In 1993, DiCaprio played the role of a mentally handicapped child in the movie "What's eating Gilbert Grape" - a role that would earn him both a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination.
Although DiCaprio starred in a number of other films including "Romeo and Juliet" and "The Basketball Diaries," it wasn't until 1997 that DiCaprio would experience what would be dubbed as "Leo-mania."
The blockbuster hit "Titanic" was the second highest grossing film of all time and it was DiCaprio's role as Jack Dawson that cemented his name as one of the biggest actors on the planet.
In the years following "Titanic," DiCaprio had leading roles in a number of critically acclaimed films including "Gangs of New York," "The Aviator" and "Departed" - all of which were directed by Martin Scorsese.
Today, DiCaprio is out with a new film called "Inception" which was written and directed by director Christopher Nolan.
