German government announces release of pair abducted in Sudan

(CNN) -- Two Germans who were kidnapped in Sudan have been released, the German Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
'I am very pleased and relieved that the two kidnapped German workers from the Technisches Hilfswerks are free," German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said.
Sudanese authorities are protecting the two, who will be brought to Khartoum, Sudan's capital, sometime Tuesday, he said.
"Given the difficult situation, they are both well," Westerwelle said.
The ministry said they were working for Technisches Hilfswerks, a German civilian government agency in Sudan's Darfur region.
