SYDNEY, July 26 (UPI) -- A catamaran made with plastic bottles sailed into Sydney's harbor Monday, completing a voyage its crew says was aimed at drawing attention to pollution.
The Plastiki, captained by banking family heir David de Rothschild, traveled 8,000 miles from San Francisco to Australia.
De Rothschild told those who showed up to watch the Plastiki arrive in port that people need to start reducing the amount of plastic waste that winds up in the oceans, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported.
