Senior District judge killed in Dagestan

A senior judge of Untsukulsky District in the North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan was killed in Makhachkala, local police said on Saturday.
"The body of the senior judge of Dagestan's Untsukulsky District was found with gunshot wounds in the Volga car in Makhachkala's academic community," the police said, adding the operational investigative group is working at the spot of the crime.
The murders of the judges became notorious cases in North Caucasus Republics. In June the justice of peace, Abdurakhman Gamzatov, was shot dead in the village of Untsukul in his house. He was allegedly shot from the gun.
In April, 2008, a deputy chairman of Ingushetia's Supreme Court, Khasan Yandiyev, was killed in the city of Karabulak after unidentified assailants ambushed his Mercedes car and sprayed him with fire. The judge died of wounds at the scene of the incident.
In a similar attack in January, 2008, Anatoly Kyarov, who led the fight against organized crime in the North Caucasus Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, was killed along with another police officer when armed gunmen attacked the car, in which they were travelling, in the republic's capital of Nalchik.
