Brazilian striker Vagner Love is set to make a return to CSKA Moscow, the O Globo paper said, citing Flamengo’s sporting director Zico.
Love was loaned out to Brazilian side Palmeiras in 2009, where he scored 5 goals in 12 league and cup appearances. He was then loaned to Flamengo, where he found the net 23 times in 29 games.
“Vagner will return to CSKA as our talks have not led to anything,” the paper quoted Zico as saying. “We are unable to meet CSKA’s terms”.
Flamengo earlier offered 5 and then 10 million euros for the player, but CSKA are demanding at least 15 million.
Love signed for CSKA in 2004. During his time at the former Red Army club, the striker won two Russian Premier League titles, and in 2005 helped the team become the first Russian side to win a European trophy, scoring the third goal as CSKA defeated Sporting Lisbon 3-1 in the UEFA Cup final.
He has also been called up for the national side, scoring five goals in 21 games. However, he missed out on this summer’s World Cup.
