SEOUL, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- The traditional South Korean Confucian institution, Sungkyunkwan, wants a state-run network to change the name of drama series "Sungkyunkwan Scandal".
Choi Gun-duk, head of the academic institution, which was founded in 1398, said the state-run KBS network has failed to reply to his letter requesting the name change on the grounds that "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" is "defamation," the Korea Times reported Friday.
"It's nonsense to associate the disgraceful word 'scandal' with the Confucian heritage," Choi said. "Sungkyunkwan is the sole national university from our traditional society where past leaders of the nation were trained".
KBS producers said the name will not be changed. UPI
