DETROIT, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- A Detroit Symphony Orchestra strike vote comes at the wrong time with the Motor City trying to reverse its economic fortunes, a development official said.
"We're just starting to see things turn around in Detroit," said Renee Monforton, spokeswoman for the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau, told The Detroit News. "We don't need any setbacks".
Detroit Symphony Orchestra President and Chief Executive Officer Anne Parsons said the non-profit organization -- expected to run up a $6.5 million deficit this year on top of a $3.8 million deficit in 2009 -- must restructure to survive, the News reported Monday. UPI
