A Sudanese man was killed and nine other passengers were injured after the driver dozed and rammed his car into a steel-laden truck in the UAE’s western region, the semi-official daily Al Ittihad reported on Friday.
The passenger car was travelling fast on a motorway towards the Silaa border point with Saudi Arabia when its apparently tired driver dozed and crashed into the back of the truck, the paper quoted police as saying.
The impact was so strong that both vehicles were thrown nearly 200 metres away from the accident site and the passenger car’s front was totally smashed.
“It was clear the driver was sleepy as he rammed into the back of the truck although it was moving in the right lane,” the paper quoted Major Ahmed Al Shamsi, Director of the Traffic Police in the western region, as saying. Emirates Business
