LOUISVILLE, Ky., Aug. 5 (UPI) -- A man suspected of kidnapping a young Kentucky woman has been arrested on other charges, police say.
A spokesman for the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office said Roy Vernon Elwell Jr., 34, was being held on old warrants and had not been charged with the kidnapping of Brittney Kustes, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported.
Kustes disappeared for almost two weeks in July. When she reappeared, she told police she had been doing prescription drugs with Elwell and two other men and that he later held her against her will, keeping her prisoner in a house in the Glasgow area.
Elwell was arrested Wednesday night in a relative's trailer at the Gospel Kingdom Campground in Bullitt County, WLKY.com reported.
Laurie Kustes, Brittney's mother, told the Courier-Journal the family had been happy to hear about the arrest Wednesday night.
Elwell, a Louisville resident, is a registered sex offender. UPI
