ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A 91-year-old Florida man on his way to pray with a sick member of his church died early Tuesday after his car was struck by a police cruiser, officials said.
Investigators said they had not yet determined who was at fault in the crash, WESH-TV, Orlando, reported.
Edward Charles Soistman was turning from the block where he lived onto a cross street when he was struck at 5:30 a.m.
Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Malinda Miller was treated for minor injuries. Investigators said she was not using her lights and siren but appeared to be traveling within the 40 mph speed limit.
Soistman had been a lay minister at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church for 35 years. The Rev. Peter Zieg said he was on the road early to pray with a parishioner who was to be hospitalized for surgery. UPI
