Netanyahu treated for foot infection

JERUSALEM, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu took time out from his duties for treatment of a foot infection at Jerusalem's Hadassah Hospital, officials say.

The prime minister's office said Tuesday the treatment lasted for one and a half hours and was carried out by Dr. Eli London, a podiatry surgeon who specializes in foot and ankle treatments.

Because Netanyahu was treated under a local anesthetic there was no reason to appoint a deputy to take over his duties, reports said.

After the treatment, Netanyahu returned to his office and resumed his official schedule, the statement said. UPI
